How to upgrade OS5 X32 FW via USB upgrade tool

0. Please download USB Tool as below or https://www.dropbox.com/s/8lz7y6tjgj2phoc/X32_usb_upgrade_1.0.9.1.zip
1. Arrange an empty USB driver(fat/fat32 format).
2. Download the firmware to the USB root folder:
    http://www.thecus.com/Downloads/FW/N5500_N7700_N8800/XXXseries_1U4600_N0503_N4200series_N5500_N7700series_N8800series_FW_5.03.02.rom
3. Unzip USB Tool file to USB root folder.
4. Power off NAS(remove all HDD).
5. Plug USB into NAS and power up.
6. Since process completed and NAS going to power off automatically.
7. Insert HDD and boot NAS

The NAS will load factory default settings
WAN IP: 192.168.1.100
LAN IP: 192.168.2.254
admin's password: admin
HTTP port: 80
HTTPS port: 443

All the users and groups settings will be cleared after load factory default settings.

OS7 & OS5 X64 models how to disable the SMB1, thus please try on this patch:

1. Download CONF.BIN as a backup, from [System Management/ Config Mgmt] and then press [Download] button.
2. Upload this patch, and no need to reboot.
3. Even after reboot and this path is working still. If you would remove this patch, please reset to factory default an upload the CONF.BIN as step 1 saved.

What is logrotate function from Syslog Management?
システムログ マネージメントにあるLogrotate につきまして?

The system will save the information, error and warning syslogs to the syslog folder.
Depending on the option, if there are new entries added to the logs since the function was enabled, they will be moved to a new file upon reaching the set time span.
The old files are named by the date of rotation and are compressed in gz format. Decompression software like 7zip is needed to extract and read the archive logs.

システムは情報、エラーおよび注意のシスログをシスログフォルダーに保存します。
オプションによっては、機能が有効にされた時からログに追加された新しいエントリーがあると、設定された時間帯に達するや否や新しいファイルに移されます。
古いファイルは置き換えられた日付で名付けられ、gz フォーマットで圧縮されます。保管されたログを解凍して見るには、7zip のような解凍ソフトが必要です。

Why after firmware update and my Media player, set top box or Windows XP SAMBA (SMB) or file sharing unable to accessible?

We assume the Media Player support SAMBA/SMB1 only, due security issue we disable the SAMBA/SMB1, thus please try to enable the SAMBA/SMB1 to try again from [CONTROL PANEL->SERVICES->FILE SERVICES->SAMBA->ADVANCED->SMB Min Protocol->LANMAN1].

A. Download 174MB ZIP file from:

D. Plug USB driver on NAS rear 2nd USB3.0 port (above RJ45 port).
E. Power NAS up and wait about 2~3 mins
F. Since update completed and system would power off automatically.

The N2350 N4350 doesn't like X86 PC have BIOS to manage the power status after power break, but the MB have a jumper at location J5 to configure as default or always on:
J5 Pin 1-2 -> Button on (default).
J5 Pin 2-3 -> Always on

How to enable SMB1 from Windows 10 (win10)

Window 10 since 2017 Sep update and disable the SMB1 function support, if your NAS support SMB1 only, please enable to SMB1 from Windows 10 and able to access elder version NAS as like OS5 X64, OS6 and elder version NAS:
Method 1. Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, type “optionalfeatures”, check all of boxes about SMB 1.0, apply & reboot Windows 10.

HDD every 5000 hours notification

Since 2017 released firmware with this function support, it is HDD life time notification every every 5000 hours, as like car or tires mileage notification let user know the HDD life usage goes to which stage, prevent from old HDD damaged suddenly but user didn’t aware about.

This notification is INFO LEVEL, even user could choose WARNING/ERROR or ERROR from MAIL NOTIFICATION to skip this notification, but it is come from many users experience, here we would recommend keep this configuration.

How to configure or modify FTP concurrent user number?

It is related to FTP passive port range, each user need 2 passive port, please go to FTP Service to adjust the passive port range.

EX:
Default passive port range at 30000~30020 for 10 concurrent user.
If would increase to 20 concurrent user, please change to 30000~30040.

Why HDD show frozen under ATA security page?

The ATA security from BIOS, under some condition would "frozen" issue, but you don't need to do anything and system is work as well, thus we could ignore this issue. If you still concern this item, please ensure this HDD doesn't belong to any RAID or JBOD volume and doing the 2nd action as the description show on the Disk Security page:

Description
1. It is strongly recommend that you back up your encrypted password to another location because if the password is lost your data will be irretrievable.
2. If disk was frozen, please hot-plug it.
3. After erasing disk, Disk Security will be disabled.
4. If disk is in use (such as RAID, disk clone, etc.), Disk Security can not be enabled.
5. It may take a while to erase the disk, please wait.
